December 26, 2012 -- The day after Christmas, I met with incoming Secretary of State Matt Dunlap at Governor's Restaurant in Old Town.
We talked about the fact that this is his second appointment to the job, making him the first Maine Secretary of State to hold the office in two non-consecutive terms since 1880.
He explains the functions of the Secretary of State, the controversy over the pay raise discussions for him and other incoming constitutional offices, the issues he believes will be most important during his second tenure, document management in both the BMV and Corporations, and his even run for the US Senate Seat vacated by Republican Olympia Snowe.
His recounting of the history of the office of Maine's Secretary of State is worth the time to listen, as is the rest of the interview.
