I had the opportunity to enjoy a luncheon with Andrew Ian Dodge and his wife, Kim, at Cloud 9 in the Senator Inn in Augusta. We talked about many things, including why he dropped out of the Republican party, why he thinks Olympia may have decided not to run, GOP state chair Charlie Webster and the caucuses, NDAA, and the contraception mandate in ObamaCare.
On the topic of his opponent Senator Olympia Snowe's retirement announcement:
"I've had some very interesting chats with people because they thought it was particularly interesting that last Tuesday, I dropped out of the Maine Republican primary…and then exactly a week later, almost to the hour, we find out Senator Snowe is no longer running…Instead of being able to get rid of me in a primary, she suddenly has to face me as an independent."
